The Miraculous Resurrection of Jesus
Core Event
After Jesus' crucifixion and death, his body was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb. A large stone was rolled in front of the entrance to seal it.
On the third day, which is now celebrated as Easter Sunday, some women who were followers of Jesus went to the tomb. They discovered that the stone had been rolled away, and when they entered the tomb, they found it empty.
The Resurrection of Jesus
Suddenly, two angels appeared to the women and said, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? he is not here; he has risen!" (Luke 24:5-6)
The women hurried back to the other disciples and told them what they had seen and heard. At first, the disciples found it hard to believe, but Peter and another disciple ran to the tomb to see for themselves.
When they arrived, they found the tomb empty, just as the women had described. They saw the linen burial cloths lying there, but Jesus was not there.
Later, Jesus appeared to his disciples multiple times over a period of forty days. He showed them his resurrected body, proving that he had indeed risen from the dead. He ate with them, taught them, and reassured them of his continued presence.
